Pinterest Love:

Have you seen this on Pinterest lately???

I really don't think it gets any cuter than that...

I guess this pretty much sums me up!

I'm going to be cutting my long hair a bit and so I'm getting into earrings again because I think they will show more after my haircut - these are some pieces I love.

You can find all of these at Pinterest.

Product I LOVE:

I think this is the best hand cream I have ever tried: Loccitane Shea Butter.  Plus I love the smell of shea butter so I think it smells wonderful as well as moisturizes but doesn't feel all greasy and make my hands feel gross!

Do you have a favorite hand cream?

Reading List

I found this neat blog post that gives you a schedule for reading...I really like how they incorporate all the 'classic' books that we should have read already:  hippiesbeautyandbooksohmy.com

So if you are stuck for a good read this summer you may want to check this list out!

10 Foods I Can't Live Without

Over at Amy's blog (Rainy Saturday) she asked us what 10 foods we can't live without.  Well, this got my mind racing and I've decided to create my own list.  Here are my top favorite foods that I hope I never have to give up!:

1. Milk Chocolate - I know obvious, right?  But I really think I might die without it.  It calms me the way nothing else does...wow I sound pathetic...but I just love it!

2.  Kiwis - Something about these little fruits I just love!

3.  Cheese - I hardly know where to start here...all kinds of cheese and on everything.

4.  Pasta - same as cheese...all kinds and in any type of dish.

5. Olive Oil - somehow I just feel better when I know I am having this instead of just any oil.

6. Strawberries -  so freakin' good - especially when you pick them yourself from the strawberry patch!

7. Ice cream - only vanilla based ice creams, especially cookie dough.  Nothing beats vanilla soft serve ice cream in a waffle cone also!

8. Burger - a good, real, homemade burger with ketchup, mayo, mustard, pickles and lettuce on it - oh yum - my mouth is watering just writing this.

9.  Chocolate chip cookies - homemade please and also I need a taste of the cookie dough before they are baked, thanks.

Well that took a lot of work folks...what about you?  What are your top 10?

Book Review: Classy by Derek Blasberg

I saw this guy on the Nate Berkus' show and he intrigued me enough to order his book from the library.  I have huge issues with woman who act and dress slutty because they think that is being 'fancy' or 'professional' or 'cool' when clearly it is NOT.  Anyways, now that I got that out of me...!

This book is basically a 'how to' guide to be a classy lady and not a tramp!  It is full of pictures and little tidbits of information that are really quite comical.  The information he writes about (every possible aspect of ones life) is very on point and informative if you need it, but I just looked at it for more entertainment value.  I did take several of his little quizzes he has in the book to help you decide if you are slutty or not and I'm happy to say that I am not!

Book Review: Bunheads by Sophie Flack

I finished reading Bunheads this past weekend and really enjoyed it.  This is the first novel by Sophie Flack and I think she did great.  She is a ballerina herself and so she wrote about what she knows.  This story gives you a very in depth look into the work of professional ballet.  I thought I knew what this book was going to be about (the inside cover made it sounds quite typical) but it actually wasn't.  I really enjoyed being a part of the main characters life as she made major life decisions regarding her dancing.  I would recommend anyone reading this book.  I have never had anything to do with a dance class (if you saw me dance you would agree) but I still felt that it was written in such a relate able way.  Very enjoyable!

Monday Blahs

So tonight I had about an hour to sit and read all my favorite blogs - some wonderful peace and quiet.  Usually when I do that I feel so inspired and I get so many great ideas for posts - not today.  Today is just a blah day.  The weather is awful and I'm so cold (I think I need to have a bath to warm up) and I'm tired.  I could keep whining but I'm sure you've had enough already!  So this post is basically to say that I haven't dropped off the face of the earth and that I am working on some ideas - have a great night everyone!

Nope, I don't like it...it's not quite right

So a couple of posts ago, I discussed what my ideal day would be (the one that is not possible)...and since then I have been thinking about it A LOT and I don't like it.

As soon as I posted it I thought to myself, wait - what about knitting?  My day doesn't involve any music time or it doesn't put me at my favorite place in the whole world...this is not right.

So basically what I have decided is that I have too many interests that could possibly fit into one day and thus I can't have 1 ideal day, I basically need an ideal week.  And yup, you are right I am being obsessive, and you are not the first person to say this!

Without making up 5 more specific days here are some activities that would have to be included in my dream / perfect day (in no particular order):

  • knitting
  • playing piano
  • going to Clear Lake at Riding Mountain National Park
  • seeing my family
  • going to a concert
  • baking cookies
  • watching movies all day (while in my pajamas of course)
  • going for a photography walk
  • and the list goes on and on!
Thanks for indulging me in my obsessive compulsiveness!

My Ideal Day - Actually Possible

Further to my previous post about my ideal day, here is my plan for an ideal day that would actually be possible.

6:00 wake up
6:15 work out
7:00 get into shower / get ready for work
7:45 leave for work (drive/walk)
8:30 start work
12:30 have lunch in a quiet spot (preferably outside or somewhere quiet) while reading a book
4:30 leave work (walk / drive home)
5:15 get home, clean up from walk and get refreshed
6:00 put supper in the oven (or on the BBQ) and sit down to have a glass of wine and read my book or some blogs while I wait for it to cook
6:45 eat dinner with husband
7:45 take dog for a walk / play with her
8:15 watch TV
9: 15 get into bed to read more of my book
10:00 fall asleep

While I see that this day would be possible, it wouldn't be very often.  I usually have some sort of errand to run after work or I have some sort of appointment that has to be fit into my evenings.  Also, I didn't mention any housework (obviously) but that needs to be accomplished a little bit every evening. But it is possible to do aspects of my ideal day - if I stop to appreciate the little things more often!

My Ideal Day - Wishful Thinking

My Pretty Pennies posted a post recently about our ideal day.  And over at The Life I Want she discussed her ideal day.  The idea is to get us to think about what makes us content and see how doable it is for us.

So here is my ideal day but with a twist...because my ideal day would not involve working (sorry, it just wouldn't) so this day really isn't possible until I become independently wealthy, but it is fun to wish!

8:00 wake up without an alarm
8:15 go for a run in a park and stretch
9:15 get into shower and take my time to get ready
10:00 go to farmer's market for a fresh local breakfast and do some shopping while I'm there
11:30 go home and hang out for a while (accomplish a few things around the house...maybe check some blogs!)
2:30 to go a matinee movie with my husband
4:30 take my dog for a walk / play
5:30 go out for dinner with my husband and some friends
8:30 come home and get into my comfy clothes to watch some TV / drink a cup of tea to unwind before bed
9:30 get into bed to read
10:30 fall asleep

Healthy Baking

Today I am going to try baking a couple new recipes.  As I mentioned earlier I have joined Weight Watchers this week so I am going to try two Weight Watchers recipes I found online.

The first one is found here:  Pumpkin Muffins.  This should be super simple because it is using a cake mix - how easier does that get?

I have some ripe bananas which I always use to make banana bread (which I love doing) but I haven't figured out exactly how 'healthy' my recipe is yet, so I am going to try this recipe:  Banana Bread.  I have never baked with whole wheat flour so I'm pretty excited to try this.

I will let you all know how they turn out!  Happy baking and happy weekend:)
